NATIONAL CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH
February 3rd, 2010February is NATIONAL CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH! I cannot express how important it is that children develop their dental hygiene habits at an early age. This will allow them to keep their teeth and gums healthy for a lifetime. It is important that your children have regular checkups and brush a few times daily. The American Dental Association recommends that your child have his/her first checkup by the time they turn 1, so it is never too early to come in. Call our office and set an appointment with our very own Dr. D’Orlando!
Tips:
- You should start brushing your child’s teeth by the time his/her first molars grow in, but be very gentle around the gums.
- Around the age of 3 or 4, make sure your child brushes once in the morning and once before bedtime.
- If your child is not drinking fluoridated water, please be sure to ask us about a prescription supplement. Fluoride helps to prevent tooth decay.
- Once your child has two teeth touching, they can begin flossing (you can teach them, and then supervise them until they become alittle older).
Don’t forget to call our office and set an appointment with our very own Dr. D’Orlando today! We are here to answer any questions you or your child may have!
